Does CoinTracker hold my crypto?
No. CoinTracker is a portfolio tracker and tax tool, not an exchange or wallet. When you add a wallet or exchange, CoinTracker reads your balances and transaction history. You cannot withdraw, cash out, or send funds from CoinTracker. Your crypto stays in the exchanges and wallets you added. To withdraw, sell, or send crypto, use the exchange or wallet where it is held.
Note: US customers can swap crypto held in a self-custody wallet with the Harvest tax losses feature. The swap runs from your connected wallet through a decentralized exchange (DEX), and CoinTracker never holds your crypto. It does not support withdrawals to a bank account or swaps of crypto held on an exchange. For details, see how to harvest tax losses by swapping crypto.
Can CoinTracker send, freeze, or recover my crypto?
No. CoinTracker cannot send, freeze, reverse, or recover crypto. This includes funds sent to the wrong address, a lost wallet, and a missing deposit. Only your exchange or wallet provider can act on those funds.
- Pending or missing transfer: Look up the transaction ID on a block explorer to see whether the transfer is confirmed, pending, or failed. See the block explorer reference guide for a list of explorers by blockchain.
- Exchange deposit or withdrawal problem: Contact the exchange's support team.
- Lost access to a wallet: Contact your wallet provider and use your wallet's recovery phrase. CoinTracker does not have your recovery phrase and cannot restore a wallet.
- Stolen crypto: Contact your exchange or wallet provider and your local law enforcement. To record the loss in your account, see how to handle lost, stolen, or worthless cryptocurrency.
What if someone says my funds are locked in CoinTracker?
This is a scam. CoinTracker does not hold funds, so there is nothing to unlock. CoinTracker will never ask you to pay a fee, tax, or deposit to release funds. Stop responding, and learn how to identify and report scams.
